California Native Plant Society Presentations ~ Northwest California's Conifers

Dear Friends,

Thank you so much for taking the time to come to the talk. I was inspired by the turn out and elated with the enthusiasm people showed for our charismatic mega-flora. I am opening this thread for your voices. Please ask questions, share experiences, talk about trees, places, or outlets for conservation.

I appreciate all the information people have shared so far — from range extensions for some of the trees, to stories about visits to some of the areas I have mentioned. Please, keep the information coming. I will start a thread soon pertaining to the Bigfoot Trail as well as progress the book is making. Keep in touch.

    Michael,

I thought I'd end up as molecular waste in a tin box on someone's mantel before someone would champion trees simply as what they are--divorced from principles of forest management, stems per acre, etc. I can't thank you enough for investing the time and sweat and bug dope in raising people's awareness. Conifers give me more of a deep feeling of kinship with Earth than even my favorite birds do. My friends in birding circles probably think I've found my crack pipe between the sofa cushions when I say this, but it's so true. Thank gawd we live in a corner of the world in which not everything has been paved and Nature experiences haven't been reduced to little more than grackles, genetically modified Big Ag crops, and hailstones. I offer a tip of my battered billed cap to you.

David- Thanks for the feedback. Others have sent great emails but I assume fear blog-technology. I'll keep in touch. MK
